The Toto Asia Success Story You'll Never Believe

The Band Toto Asia

Toto was expanding production facilities abroad, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. North America was seen as an area of growth for Washlet toilets and bidet seats, as opposed its "base" markets in Japan and China.

스포츠토토  was documenting Toto words to ensure that the next generation could read the words. However, many words were replaced with foreign ones, like dui, which is Bengali for verandah.

Origins

The early history of Toto, which began in 1917, was a reflection of Japan's economic expansion. In the beginning of its existence, the company made products to meet the demands of modern, contemporary urban housing. To do this, it used the country's first tunnel kiln to make ceramics in a continuous flow. It also pioneered the use of automation for production control, which helps to increase efficiency and a more consistent production.

In the late 1980s the company began to expand overseas to benefit from sales and new markets. It established the Cera Trading Company, importing and selling other products from other manufacturers to complement its own line of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy increased sales and expanded the market share of the company globally.

In the 1990s Toto began focusing on research and development for water-related appliances. It also improved its distribution system to better serve the needs of customers and to increase profits. The company implemented a just-in-time method of managing supply chains, and it used the same methodology for its sales process. This resulted in a higher degree of customer satisfaction.

Toto has continued to innovate on the toilet technology. The latest toilet, for instance is equipped with an extremely powerful tornado flush that is more eco green than traditional toilets. The company uses recycled water for its manufacturing process, and also has a green purchasing policy. Toto also produces faucets, bathtubs and hand dryers with greater energy efficiency than typical models.

The first Toto museum opened in the year 2015. It features exhibits on Toto’s seminal products and their evolution, the group companies (all of which are made from ceramics) and the history of plumbing, and even bath units. In a separate gallery you will find Toto products sold all over. The museum has a bathroom with a WASHLET and other toilet innovations.

Before the formation of Toto the members of the band did session work for many musicians. Boz Scaggs album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich, guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather, drummers Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also played on records by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

It is common for a group with a name such as Asia to be a prog rock band, but it is actually a fairly straight forward rock outfit. The band was initially a four-piece and released two albums in 1979, the self-titled debut album and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. But even though the band have a diverse musical background their biggest hit was in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a major blockbuster, but it was not without its problems. Record companies put the band on position with the order "give us an album that's a smash or we'll take you off the market" and the pressure was on to give it. Luckily for Toto, they did with the help of the smash hit single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery is a result of their previous experience, as the band members were session musicians for artists like Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts prior the group. Their sonic signature has since become the standard for  pop music from the 1980s, and has influenced many modern artists.

The album begins hard with songs such as Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band's ability to write fantastic AOR tunes that slowly creep into your head. However, the album also includes some slower, more jazzy tracks, like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album concludes with Great Expectations. This song blends folk and distortion AOR that could sound completely wrong but actually is very effective.

After Toto IV, the band's fortunes changed to the downside. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career, and the band was through various drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band following drug-related charges. The band continued to play with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.

Despite the turmoil, Toto forged ahead and released Isolation however, which was not as successful as IV. However, the band managed to release another chart-topping album in 1992, Kingdom of Desire. This album marked the conclusion of the original Toto lineup and was the first album to feature the new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up

The album's third, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet style of previous albums. It was a more ferocious, consistent effort with an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. The edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the development of the group. The drummer Bobby Kimball's increasing ability to play was evident in the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. David Paich's keyboard skills were as well more refined, more precise and less akin to previous recordings.

After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live performance in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set titled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released their new studio album a few months later and then embarked on a world tour promote it. During this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.

In 1998, Paich & Lukather began looking through old tapes and demos to discover songs that had never been recorded prior to. The album was released as a double-album titled Then And Now in 2001. It was the first album by the band that did not include one single track with the word "A" in its title. It also included one previously not released track, "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial flop and vocalist Williams was suffering from a severe case of laryngitis that limited his singing abilities. Hungate also returned to Nashville and Leland Sklar's drumming duties were replaced by Shem Von Schroeck.

Downes along with the other members of Asia--Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened a meeting in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility of officially reforming the band. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was busy with Yes at the time) was eventually referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The band also had an appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
